Awake is a new series that airs this March on NBC. The show, created by Kyle Killen, follows Michael Britten (Jason Isaacs) and the events that follow after there is an accident that kills either his son or his wife. This is were the show gets interesting. After the accident, Jason starts to experience two alternate time lines. In one his wife survived the accident and his son dies, but when he goes to sleep he wakes up the next day where the opposite has happened; his son has survived and his wife was killed. In each reality he is seeing a different shrink whom promises that the other reality he keeps talking about is definitely a dream so part of the show is trying to figure out is really real. In both realities Michael works as a detective and through his work he keeps stumbling on clues in one reality that lead to solving the case in the opposite one.
From what we have seen from the pilot this show is great. The writing is fantastic, the characters are deep, and I want to learn more about them. While I am not sure what they are going to do next, or what is going to happen to keep the show exciting, I am intrigued and I am definitely going to be tuning each week because I want to know. This is one of the better dramas I have seen in a while, and I am excitedly looking forward to seeing where it will go.
